Wooshin Pigment Co., Ltd. (CEO Jang Sung-sook), Korea's top producer of inorganic pigments, has completed construction of its second plant in the Iksan No. 3 General Industrial Complex. The company held a completion ceremony on the 14th, attended by Iksan Mayor Jeong Heon-yul and roughly 100 company staff, and began full operations at the site.
Wooshin Pigment built its first Iksan plant in 2013 on a 22,523㎡ site within the No. 3 General Industrial Complex, where it remains in operation. This latest project relocated the company's Dangjin plant to Iksan, completing a second plant on a 9,563㎡ site and marking the start of a full "Iksan era" for the company.
Wooshin Pigment has invested 19 billion won to date and employs 35 people.
Founded in 1977, Wooshin Pigment supplies inorganic and organic pigments and dyes across every industry, built on more than 30 years of accumulated technical know-how. It holds the No. 1 position in domestic production of eco-friendly inorganic pigments, backed by technology recognized as the best in the country.
More than 500 companies at home and abroad currently use Wooshin Pigment's products, and the company holds a 40–50% share of the domestic pigment market. Pigment, a powdered colorant, is used across a wide range of fields including paints, printing, ink, artist's paint, and cosmetics.
Marking the occasion with today's completion ceremony, Wooshin Pigment aims to reach 100 billion won in sales by 2020, gain an edge over overseas competitors, and grow into a global company.
The relocation is expected to meaningfully boost Iksan's population, as Dangjin plant workers move to the city, and to energize the local economy through new job creation.
Mayor Jeong Heon-yul said, "On behalf of the citizens of Iksan, I want to express my respect for CEO Jang Sung-sook, who as a woman CEO has devoted 39 years to the pigment industry, and my gratitude for her decision to relocate to Iksan. We'll keep working to improve investment conditions and provide support so that more promising small and mid-sized companies choose to invest here."
