WOOSHIN PIGMENT

SINCE 1977

A LEADING PIGMENT PASTE PRODUCER IN KOREA

Founded in 1977, Wooshin Pigment is Korea's No. 1 producer of eco-friendly inorganic pigments, holding roughly 40–50% of the domestic pigment market and supplying some 500 client companies in Korea and abroad. It provides organic, inorganic pigments, water-based, solvent-based, and universal colorants to various industrial fields. Especially, Wooshin is providing high-quality iron oxide called Bayferrox® in domestic market as an exclusive distributor of Lanxess, and our own brand called GEOLOR® after remanufacturing with Lanxess's iron oxide pigments. In 1997, technical cooperation was made with Bayer Chemical (current Lanxess) and started developing and providing eco-friendly water-based colorants. In order to replace heavy metal pigments, Wooshin developed non-toxic hybrid pigments called GEOLOR® in 2006. Since 2008, the company has been developing colorants usable in both water-based and solvent-based products for the first time in Korea.

Introducing WOOSHIN PIGMENT

Wooshin Pigment: A 40-Year Legacy in Industrial Pigments and Eco-Friendly Solutions

Since its founding in 1977, Wooshin Pigment has spent more than four decades pioneering high-quality industrial pigments and contributing to the growth of countless industries across Korea. Starting from foundational inorganic and organic pigments, we have expanded into innovative hybrid (organic-inorganic) pigments and, in step with market demand, eco-friendly water-based colorants, solvent-based colorants, and Korea's first dual-compatible (water- and solvent-based) colorants — a broad, specialized product lineup that we supply reliably to deliver true customer satisfaction.

Beyond simply supplying pigments, our top priority is providing the optimal solutions that help our customers develop successful products and improve production efficiency. Through continuous R&D and rigorous quality control, we respond quickly to shifting market needs, and we are committed to being a trusted partner that grows together with our customers.

Core Competencies: Quality, Technology, and Environment

The unrivaled expertise and know-how that Wooshin Pigment has built up over its long history is the driving force behind the exceptional value we deliver to our customers. Grounded in the core strengths below, we contribute to the advancement of industries ranging from paints and inks to paper and leather.

1. Supplying World-Class, High-Quality Pigments

A strong partnership with LANXESS of Germany (Bayferrox®): As LANXESS's long-standing Korean partner for its pigments division, we reliably supply Bayferrox®, an iron oxide pigment recognized globally as best-in-class, to the domestic market. Prized for its outstanding weather resistance, light fastness, and dispersibility, Bayferrox® is widely used across high-value industries such as construction, coatings, and plastics.

Customer-tailored solutions through our own GEOLOR® brand: Using premium raw materials sourced from LANXESS, we process pigments domestically with our own accumulated expertise and supply them under our proprietary GEOLOR® brand. This gives customers a wider range of options and enables more flexible supply.

2. Leading Innovation in Eco-Friendly Pigment Technology

Localizing eco-friendly water-based colorants (AQUALOR®): In 1997, through close technical cooperation with Germany's Bayer Chemical (now LANXESS), we became the first in Korea to develop and localize eco-friendly water-based colorants, launching our AQUALOR® brand. Continued R&D since then has expanded the AQUALOR® lineup into a wide range of colors and consistently high quality, earning recognition across the paint, ink, paper, and leather industries.

Improving workplace safety with non-toxic pigments (GEOLOR® GF Series): In 2006, to replace the heavy-metal-based pigments then widely used in Korea, we independently developed and launched the non-toxic hybrid pigment GEOLOR® GF Series. This innovative eco-friendly pigment has played a major role in expanding sustainable, eco-friendly paint production across Korea's paint industry while also improving worker health and safety.

Korea's first dual-compatible colorant (AQUALOR® AU Series): In 2008, Wooshin achieved a first for Korea by developing AQUALOR® AU Series, an innovative dual-compatible colorant usable in a single formulation across both water-based and solvent-based systems. This offered the domestic market an economical yet high-performance alternative to costly imported specialty pigments — a flagship example of the technological innovation through which we help customers cut costs and boost productivity.

3. Pursuing Sustainable Value for Customers and the Environment

Since our founding, Wooshin Pigment has consistently pursued the core values of customer satisfaction and environmental protection. We are committed to listening closely to our customers and fostering a corporate culture of mutual growth. Going forward, we will keep putting customers and the environment first as we continue developing a wider range of safe, non-toxic hybrid pigments and high-performance eco-friendly pigments — working to become a trusted pigment supplier that contributes to the advancement of industries across Korea and to lasting value for our customers.

FAQ

What types of pigments does Wooshin Pigment mainly handle, and which industries do you primarily serve?

Since 1977, Wooshin Pigment has supplied inorganic pigments, organic pigments, hybrid (organic-inorganic) pigments, and a range of liquid colorants (water-based, solvent-based, and dual-compatible) to industries in Korea and abroad. Through Bayferrox® (iron oxide pigments from Germany's LANXESS), our own GEOLOR® brand (high-quality, domestically processed pigments, including the non-toxic hybrid GEOLOR® GF Series), and AQUALOR® (eco-friendly water-based and dual-compatible colorants, including the AU Series), we provide tailored solutions to customers across paint, coatings, ink, plastics, construction materials, paper, and leather.

Can you provide customized pigment solutions or technical support for specific industries, such as automotive coatings, eco-friendly building materials, or specialty inks?

Yes. Drawing on decades of experience and accumulated technical expertise, Wooshin Pigment proposes the optimal pigment solution for each customer's specific requirements and industry. We provide technical consultation from the earliest stages of product development and, where needed, actively support custom color development and property improvements — working closely with customers to strengthen the competitiveness of their final products.

What exactly does the “eco-friendliness” emphasized in products like the GEOLOR® GF Series and AQUALOR® line mean, and can you provide related certifications or test reports?

Wooshin Pigment prioritizes environmental and safety considerations in all of our product development. The GEOLOR® GF Series is a non-toxic hybrid pigment developed to replace heavy-metal pigments, supporting eco-friendly paint production across Korea's paint industry. AQUALOR® liquid colorants are likewise developed primarily as water-based products with low or no VOC (volatile organic compound) content, helping improve working environments and meet environmental regulations. Upon request, we can provide hazardous-substance analysis results and relevant test reports to substantiate a given product's eco-friendly credentials.

We'd like to test pigment samples for a new project. What is the sample request process, and what are your minimum order quantity (MOQ) terms?

We welcome sample requests for new projects and product development. Simply reach out through our website's contact page or our main phone line with an overview of your project, the type of pigment needed, and your expected usage volume, and our team will follow up quickly to guide you through the sampling process. Samples are generally provided free of charge in small quantities, though terms may vary for certain specialty pigments or larger requested volumes. Minimum order quantities for production orders vary by product type and packaging unit, so please consult your sales representative for specifics.

We are considering switching to Wooshin Pigment from our current pigment supplier. Can you support color matching against our existing products and ensure quality consistency?

Absolutely. Wooshin Pigment's experienced technical team and precise color management systems allow us to accurately match colors against the products you currently use. We supply only products manufactured under strict quality control standards, minimizing lot-to-lot color variation and ensuring consistent quality. We also provide active support for any technical questions or concerns that arise during the transition, to help ensure it goes smoothly.
